About Amandapondo

My name is Amanda and being a naturally curious soul, or just plain nosey, I’m in search of the answers behind why normal every day things happen. Purely because it’s interesting and I like to think of myself as a secret scientist.

The name amandapondo comes from the Lush product ‘amandopondo’ which is a rose, orange and lemon scented bubble bar to crumble into your bath so soft fluffy and deliciously scented bubbles. Designed by Lush founder, Mark Constantine, the name supposedly means ‘I’m sorry’. There’s a story behind this which goes back in Lush history, although I forget the exact details, and following the great Lush hacking of January 2011 their website is currently out of service, meaning I am unable to verify the facts at present.

I came to be known as ‘Pondo’ or ‘Miss P’ in late 2006 after starting to work in Lush, Exeter.  At a training session, when asked “Who would you most like to receive a massage from with Soft Coeur?” I replied, in the most logical fashion (for someone named Amanda), “why, Mr Pondo of course” and thus my name as Miss P/Pondo began.
